Master’s degree in performance and pedagogy from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, Marco Fernandes (Portugal, 1986) is currently attending the doctoral program in music and musicology at the Universidade de Évora.
Known as one of the most active and versatile portuguese percussionists of his generation, focused particularly on the chamber music repertoire. Freelancer in the main portuguese orchestras and ensembles, he is coordinating professor at Metropolitana and invited assistant professor at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.
He is also artistic director of Percussões da Metropolitana (Percussion Ensemble) and president of the jury of the International Beira Interior Percussion Competition.
He is an artist for Majestic Percussion, Vic Firth and Zildjian Company.
