Sytze Pruiksma performs for NY400
A thrilling concert experience by one of the Netherlands’ most innovative composers, with the Manhattan skyline as backdrop. On September 14, 2009 Sytze Pruiksma had the honor of performing his “Lân” production in New York for "NY400," a celebration of the 400 year old relationship between Holland and New York. Between the 12th and the 20th September, Frysland, the heart of Majestic residence, took over Governors Island for the “New Island Festival.

Lân (Land) is a dynamic and intense look at the versatile shapes and sounds of the land and its inhabitants. Filmmaker Herman Zeilstra and Pruiksma have compiled footage of the Frisian landscape – a very distinctive geographical region in the Netherlands – which Pruiksma reads like a musical score. Scenic designer Sjoerd Wagenaar has devised an open air auditorium which allows the audience to take in their natural settings during the show. With the Manhattan skyline as backdrop, Lân combines video projections and Pruiksma’s unique compositions to create an all-sensory concert experience.
