Tzong-Ching Ju receives Percussive Arts Society Lifetime Achievement in Education Award

November 23, 2009— We are pleased to inform you that Tzong-Ching Ju, founder of the Ju Percussion Group, received the Percussive Arts Society Lifetime Achievement Award in Education at PASIC 2009. The award was established in 2002 and recognizes the contributions of the most highly regarded leaders in percussion education. Nominees must demonstrate the highest ideals and professional integrity in the percussion education and pedagogy with a significant history of exceptional and innovative teaching practices.

Tzong-Ching Ju

Percussionist Tzong-Ching Ju founded the Ju Percussion group in January 1986, the first percussion ensemble established in Taiwan. The ensemble consists of thirteen talented percussionists and one composer in residence. All members play Western percussion instruments as well as Chinese gong-drum music and other forms of Asian traditional music. Their evening concert at PASIC 2009 was successfully done and brought the Eastern culture into Western world.

Ju Percussion Group

Under the direction of Tzong-Ching Ju, the Ju Percussion Group is often invited to perform in festivals and concert series all over the world. The Ju Percussion Group actively cultivated the percussion music by regularly commissioning and premiering the compositions. It has accumulated 110 national and international commissioned works. The ensemble pioneered the development of the percussive arts in Taiwan. Through the classical, popular, and children concerts that Ju Percussion Group arranges annually, it has contributed to the steadily growing popularity of percussion music in Taiwan.
