Liu Qiping currently is the Principal of the Timpani and Percussion Section of the China Symphony Orchestra, a member of China Musician Association and the Council Member of Percussionists' Association. He graduated from the China Central Conservatory of Music in 1982 and was admitted to the China National Symphony Orchestra, the best symphony orchestra in China, in the same year.
For over 20 years, Liu Qiping has performed a large number of repertoires of classical, romantic, modern and contemporary orchestral works of the West and China with China National Symphony Orchestra, and collaborated with the world famous conductors such as Ormandy, Karajan, Seiji Ozawa, Dutoit, Masur and Rozhestvendsky. He has also performed with well-known instrumentalists such as David Oistrakh, Menuhin, Stern, Mutter, Argerich, Yo-Yo Ma, Mischa Maisky, Lang Lang and so on. With the China National Symphony Orchestra, Liu Qiping enjoys great honors during his visiting tours to Europe, America, Asia, South America and other countries.
