Arjan Jongsma

Arjan Jongsma (15 years old) is a student of Roel Jan Jongsma at the Center for the Arts “Meldij” in Drachten and is a member of the Ferwerda Talent Academy in Drachten. Since September 2010 Arjan has also takes lessons with Tatiana Koleva at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen.
 
In 2007 Arjan was the winner of the Haydn Music Festival. For his marimba performance he received both the jury and the audience prizes at the finals in the Oosterpoort in Groningen.

In 2009 Arjan won first prize at the National Finals of the prestigious Princes Christina Concours. He was also the winner of the KPMG Press Prize and was awarded by representatives of the press. He also received the Rubens Quartet Prize: a mini tour with the Rubens Quartet an internationally well known Dutch chamber music quartet.

In August 2009 Arjan played on the national Dutch TV at the famous Prinsengracht Concert in Amsterdam where he performed with the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands and female pop artist Belle Perez. In October 2009 Arjan received the Accelerando Award after his performance in Musis Sacrum in Arnheim where he was invited by the Association for Chamber Music.

Arjan gives concerts throughout the country as a soloist and with symphony orchestras and wind bands and last year he made his debut in the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
