RECENT HISTORY

The band in Lonate Ceppino (VA – Italy) was founded in 1904. The Marching Show Band instead, was officially born in 2003, by the conversion of the traditional band. The activity of Marching Show Band of the group had already begun in 1997, when the marching activity joined the traditional one. Then, in 2001, the shift to a marching band became definitive, with the formalization of the conversion in 2003.

In a few years of full activity, the Lonate MB has been able to impose itself in national and international scene as one of the best marching bands, position confirmed by the results obtained in competitive events held since 2003.

The group participated in 5 Italian championships, always getting the podium - both in the parade and in the drill show competitions . In 2003 and 2004 the group took part in the World Championships of Marching Show Bands. In the World Championships of 2004 in Bournemouth (UK) - more than 50 groups from the 5 continents participated - after an exciting selection, the group got an unexpected and prestigious admission to the final, coming 13th. In 2009 the marching band obtained the 4th place at the European Championships, held in Rastede (Germany) and the Gold Medal of the specialty.

The good quality achieved and expressed during its performances in competitions is supported by the numerous and prestigious national and international performances in which the marching band participated: in 2000, the year of the last Jubilee, it performed in front of Pope John Paul II, in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, broadcast live.
