DVS Receives New Majestic Drums
Katwijk – July, 2009 —On Tuesday July 2nd the DVS marching band from Katwijk,
one of the main military style marching bands from Europe, received new Majestic marching
drums. During their rehearsal for the upcoming World Music Contest (WMC) in Kerkrade
(www.wmc.nl) they received 13 snare
drums and 1 bass drum. For this occasion Peter Vulperhorst, managing director of Majestic
Holland, expressly came over to deliver the instruments and sign the contract. The snare
drum DVS received was the Endeavor ESS9912AB which is especially designed for use
in military bands. A full maple shell of 14” x 12”, 12 double lugs, stress aluminum hoops
and the famous Majestic parallel mechanism fully mounted on the hoop give these drums
the specific sound needed.

Later this year the junior band will receive a new set of marching drums also from the Endeavor series. The snare drum will be the model ESS1406AB which also has a full maple shell but is 14” x 6” with 2.3 mm steel hoops and 8 double lugs. These drums are better sized for the needs of young players.
At the moment DVS is working on the finishing touches of their performance for the WMC, and as board member Arjen Ouwehand stated: ”We have made a big step forward since we started to use the new Majestic instruments.”
Majestic Holland wishes DVS lot of success at the WMC. For more information, visit www.dvskatwijk.nl.
